Sue's possibility portrait
See www.innervisionportraits.com for more.
Gouache and acrylic painting on foamcore board.
The image at the top of the circle, based on an M.C. Escher painting, represents Transformation. The flying black birds suggest a play Sue directed that is also about transformation; the birds then rise out of the frame and transform from a flat symbolic image to a 3 dimensional, realistic bird.
The upper left scene shows Sue dancing with her closet door as a young teen, an image of self-transformation for her.
Energy is illustrated by a glowing blue sphere, based on a Kirlian photograph of energy radiating from a seed.
Genuineness is embodied by Sue, as a radiant being of Light, taking off the masks she normally wears to reveal her true Self.
On the upper right is Sue as a young woman acting a scene from her life, expressing her genuineness and energy and transforming her audience.
The bottom left image is her father, a role model of transformation and genuineness; on the bottom right is the feminist bookstore she ran, symbolic of transformation, energy, and genuineness.
