The rich, calm blues of the painting convey peace and awareness. The mountain vista surrounding the central circle are based on the Chinese cloud mountain painting tradition, while the tiger and dragon are symbols drawn from Chinese Buddhist mythology.
Within the circle, Dave sits in meditation pose; a cornucopia of fruits, vegetables, hops, and wheat pours across his lap and channels the small stream on the upper right into the deep ocean below. This is for him a potent image of the abundance of his essential Self.
The three small circles are placed at the symbolic 3, 9, and 6 positions of the Enneagram. Each shows Dave doing a symbolic yoga mudra.
The circle to the left expresses the idea of holy hope and harmony (aligning oneself with optimism and the forces in the universe). The circle to the right expresses the idea of holy faith and strength, the human relationship to holy love. And the circle above his head expresses holy love: the universe is made up of love.
