Graydon's possibility portrait

See www.innervisionportraits.com for more.

Gouache and gold leaf painting on foamcore board. This portrait is of my mother.

The circular outer band shows the interconnectedness of all life, which she is very aware of being part of. The over-arching night sky is a reminder of her wonder and awe at nature. It also represents empowerment and dreams realized, because it hints at the Caves to Comets science programs she designed to teach girls that the world is theirs to explore.

The redwood forest scene symbolizes interconnection and wonder, as does the forest floor with its ferns, trillium, violets, trout lilies, fungi, moss-covered rocks, and salamander.

The overall green color suggests the green of the countryside that meant freedom (empowerment) and dreams realized to Graydon as a child. The little angel is based on a Pierro della Francesca painting and represents her sense of wonder and interconnection on a spiritual level.
