When the love that Coowe and Russ share is expressed, it creates the possibilities of family, peace, wonder, and connection in their lives, as well as a sense of deep security that neither of them experienced before their relationship.
Security is represented by the 4-sided diamond around their portrait and the 4 outer scenes of the 4 seasons (4 symbolizes safety, strength and stability), as well as a quote from Russ that they are both secured to solid earth.
The upper left scene of the snowy cabin illustrates the cozy feeling of we are one family that they have created in their blended family. They both prioritize family over careers and money. Being connected to their families of origin is also important to them, especially to Coowe.
The upper right scene with the red truck shows Betsy, the old truck that carried them across the whole of North America and in which they experienced wonder and peace together. They love to be out in nature together: it makes them feel free, like children.
The lower right campfire scene represents their connection to the land and to each other, and the way playing music together expresses these connections.
The lower left scene of the rusty saw blade in the leaves is from their special place. Discovering it showed them that the land has a long history and is the source of everything. This old saw blade reminds them of their connection to the land and of the possibility of seeing wonder in the everyday.
